TRESOC
Dear Member,

This is our first email communication with you, and we would like to make sure it is welcome in your mailbox!  Our goal is to contact you only when relevant updates become available, and to inform you of important news before it is released to the press. Much of the early stage project development work is confidential, so it may seem as though not much is happening... but the opposite is true!  As we forge ahead with our portfolio of projects, discussions and negotiations are increasing as more and more organisations are waking up to the possibilities of renewable energy.  We hope to have news of a significant new project soon and, as a member of TRESOC, we want you to be the first to know.

PROJECT UPDATE: Totnes Community Wind Farm
from our partner, Infinergy

Totnes Community Wind Farm is moving through its stages of the planning process, and community consultation kicked off with The Totnes Community Wind Farm Introduction Day.  Held in the Totnes Methodist Church Hall, it was well attended with around 250 local residents coming along to learn more about the wind farm proposal.  One of the visitors was Dr. Sarah Wollaston M.P., who fully supports the plans.  The following week, the team gave a presentation at a Harberton Parish Council meeting.

To date, we have received 23 comment cards on which residents have voiced their opinion.

We are pleased to inform you that 61% are supportive of the plans, 17% are undecided and 22% percent are opposed.

The next step in opening up discussions will be to launch a fully updated dedicated website with an online consultation facility. If you haven’t done so already, please fill out a Totnes Community Wind Farm comment card and send it to us at TRESOC, Lower Allerton, Dartington, Totnes, TQ9 6DY.

Bird surveys have been taking place regularly throughout the chilly winter and spring months and bat activity surveys will begin from April onwards. These surveys, undertaken by an independent accredited ecologist, are required to ensure that the site of the proposed wind turbines will not impact any of these important species.

The results of the surveys will accompany the planning application which we hope to submit towards the end of 2011.
NEWS & EVENTS
Ian Bright, Managing Director, will be presenting the TRESOC story at Transition Network and Local United’s 2-day Social Enterprise in Action workshop at the end of January.  The workshop’s focus is on social enterprise in action, where participants will learn from entrepreneurs’ real life experiences, and then use this insight to propagate new enterprise around the country.  The number of attendees had to be limited, unfortunately, but a follow-up event is being considered.
A new share launch is in the early stages of planning for this year.  Agreed at the Annual General Meeting, this release of shares will be announced with some fanfare to generate increased awareness in our community.
We have appointed a new Marketing Director, Jane Brady, who brings over twenty years of experience in communications.  Her appointment will allow us to focus on getting project work done, whilst her role will be to improve our communications with you, our members.  As with all TRESOC directors, this position is unpaid.  Jane is very interested to hear your feedback and ideas about how best to share information with members, and beyond, so please email her at admin@tresoc.co.uk with your thoughts.

As a side note, please know that your contact information is secure with us; we will not forward or sell it to any third party.
